After a 2-3 year long journey with infertility, my husband and I were thrilled to find out that we were finally pregnant. Much to our surprise, we ended up finding out that we had three miracles growing inside! Our girl/boy/boy triplets were born at 34 weeks and 3 days gestation. Our little girl was born with a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) in her heart. This is a hole in the septum between the two ventricles. She continues to be monitored by a pediatric cardiologist to determine if she will need surgery within the next year to close up this hole. All three babies were admitted into the NICU right after their arrival. After 12 days, our two boys went home with us leaving our little girl in the NICU. After 22 days, she finally gained enough weight and was feeding well that they discharged her to come home with us! Life has never been so hectic for my husband and I but we would not have it any other way. We are so in love with our three rainbow babies!

The triplets are now almost 8 months old! (Wow how time flies). All babies made it through cold/flu/RSV season without getting sick, thank God! We are finally able to enjoy getting out of the house once in awhile. We have been battling congenital plagiocephaly (both of the boys) and brachycephaly (our girl) over the past 3-4 months with doing physical therapy. Their pediatrician was hopeful that their skull shape would improve with PT but we are now having to do starbands, or helmets as most call them, for all three. We are starting with our little girl as her's is the worst case of the three. These starbands are usually not covered by insurance and run about $3100 a piece, YIKES! On top of that, we now have to take them back for appointments an hour away from home every 2-3 weeks for helmet adjustments for the next 7 months. Other than this, the triplets have been doing great and thriving! Little Preslee will have to go back at 1 year old to see her cardiologist and have another echocardiogram to evaluate the holes in her heart (she has a VSD and a PDA). Her cardiologist told us it is a case by case basis on whether or not she will eventually need surgery and when. It could be a year from now or it could be when she is a teenager. It is hard to know until she starts to become symptomatic from them. Thank you for checking in and God Bless!
