Maxley was born at 2lb 4oz. He spent 99 days in the hospital and was born just 4 days after the sudden loss of his daddy, my husband.
Maxley has a rare genetic abnormality and a heart condition. He received open heart surgery in January and had extreme complications immediately after. He ended up on life support at just 8 months old with very little hope he would ever come off. He was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertention and interstitial lung disease. He was on life support for 25 days and came off on his 9 month birthday. We spent another 112 days in the hospital 84 of which he was in a coma. We came home in May and he turned 1 in June.
In his first year of life we spend 211 days in the hospital. We have had to go back a few times here and there for minor issues but hope that he recovers as he gets older.
The sudden loss of my husband and the extreme medical issues have made for a very intense and overwhelming year. I spent most of the 25 days believing I would lose my son within the same year as my husband.
