    Violet Kaseman
    Injury/Illness
    Premature Birth

My name is Violet, I was born 6 weeks premature. My mom, Olivia, was having some blood pressure issues that lead me to be born earlier than planed. As of Saturday, July 23rd, I am 1 week old. I am currently in Bismarck, ND at the Sanford NICU. I was born Saturday, July 16, 2022, weighing at 4 pounds and 6  ounces, measuring 19 inches long. Before I was born, my mom met with many doctors and they had found out that I would be born with two heart defects, VSD and a small aneurysm on the right side of my heart. In simpler terms, I have a small hole in the septum on my heart right at the bottom, during my time in the womb the hole in my heart has not grown and my pediatric cardiologist reassured my mom that it is small and maintain, meaning it is not growing nor shrinking. The small aneurysm on the right side of my heart could fix itself after I was born, I had an Echo done on my heart two days after I was born and both defects were still showing up at that time. Routinely they will do another Echo on my heart while I am at the NICU to watch the progress if my heart. As of right now there is no date set to when I can go to my family,  but we are all hopeful that it is sooner rather than later.

Here is a little information about my family, I have three older siblings, Gabriel 9, Delmar 7, and Layne 1, we have 4 cats as well, Guy, Russell, Boss and Bob, who I will love insanely when I am home. My mom's name is Olivia and my dad's name is David, they met 3 years ago while playing and watching darts at the local bar that they now both work at in Wishek. My Dad, David, is a the head cook at the Big Screen Bar and Grill full time 6 days a week and mom recently started working part time on weekends as well to help get money for bills and gas to come visit me. Due to some unfortunate events my mom recently had been unemployed. My mom, for the passed two years up until March of this year, was a care giver to my Grandma and Great Grandma. After my Great Grandpa had passed from Covid in 2020, my mom helped take care of my Great Grandma along with my Grandma who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. My grandma passed away in December of 2021 and eventually my Great Grandma move with her other daughter to help take the stress off of my mom while she was pregnant with me.

Due to the lack of daycare access in our home town of Wishek,  my mom is able to work part time at Big Screen with my dad and during the school year,  she works as a substitute cook for the school in town as well, but she is home when she isn't working. We live in a small town, everyone knows everyone and everyone helps each other as much as they can, a small loving community where cousins are your classmates and best friends also.

Since my mom has been pumping to provide me with hear breast milk she and my dad have been coming up almost every other day, if not everyday and they spend a few hours with me as I cant be out of the my incubator for too long. I get snuggles and I can here my mom's voice as much as I can, but with the prices of gas and everyday living with bills due, it will be hard to manage coming up as much as they can. My parents are starting up this profile to ask for help in any way possible even if its with the electric bill, house payment, gas expense or medical bills. Insurance is still processing, but sometimes insurance doesn't cover thing that is needed while being in the NICU.

Any and everything that is given to help my family and I is truly and greatly appreciated and we so very thankful for all the people that can and are willing to help us in the future. Thank you all and I can't wait to be able to post about my progress with you all.

    Have a wonderful day
