Heart Defect
Camden was born with coarctation of the aorta and had his first open heart surgery when he was six days old. Camden is now seven years old and has had 20 total surgeries including six open heart surgeries. Camden has had his aortic valve replaced multiple times and currently has two mechanical heart valves and a permanent pacemaker. Camden will need a heart transplant likely within the next year. There are no pediatric heart surgeons in our state so our family must travel 4 hours to the nearest hospital with a pediatric heart surgeon. We also have three other children under the age of 12 and it’s been very difficult being separated from them and commuting back and forth between our children. We are both on unpaid leaves from our jobs to be with Camden during this difficult time, he has been inpatient for 7 weeks now for this most recent hospital stay due to complications. We appreciate all the prayers and support.
