On February 17th 2018, our four year old daughter Kaya was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
This Leukemia is the most common Cancer in children. Although Kaya has thankfully been blessed with a great prognosis, she still has a long road of treatment ahead of her, starting in the spring of this year and lasting all the way until spring of 2020.
Since diagnosis, Kaya has endured a platelet transfusion, surgery to implant a medical port, bone biopsies, and will continue to undergo countless spinal taps, routine chemotherapy and oral medication including steroids, and endure the sometimes harsh side effects that go with them, until the end of her treatment.
Even with all that our sweet girl has endured so far, she never fails to have a smile on her face, or to put one on the face of anyone she comes into contact with! The strength and perseverance she shows at her tender age of four is the stuff superheros are made of- hence the moniker "Super Kaya", which she has rightfully earned.
