The Jacobson Family
Our Story
Just before being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, I was laid off from my job, a moment that completely changed the course of my life. Not long after, I underwent two major surgeries: one to remove an ovarian cyst and another for staging and a full hysterectomy. The pathology confirmed a rare, aggressive form of mucinous ovarian cancer. I’ll begin chemotherapy in November as the next step in treatment and healing.
As a mom, my greatest priority is staying strong for my kids while navigating the emotional, physical, and financial toll of this diagnosis. Our family is adjusting to a new normal, balancing doctor appointments, treatment schedules, and daily routines, all while managing more than $40,000 in medical debt from the surgeries alone.
Losing my income just before treatment has added significant stress to an already overwhelming time. I’m doing my best to remain hopeful and present for my family, but the reality of covering basic needs, medical bills, and travel to chemo appointments has become increasingly difficult.
Every bit of support helps lighten that load. It allows me to focus on what matters most which is healing, regaining strength, and being there for my family. I’m deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity of those walking beside us on this journey.
