On March 5th, I received the call everyone dreads. It came less than a month after my first grandchild was born, one week before returning to work following bladder surgery, and one day after buying a used car; I was told I had cancer. Now I face a hard road of bilateral mastectomy, possible chemo and medication for the next 5-7 years. In addition to the financial burden this diagnosis places on me, it's also going to affect my daughter, as I was supposed to be her main source of daycare when she returns to work as a firefighter. 

In addition to the recent cancer diagnosis, just last year I was diagnosed with an intramedullary spinal tumor and have had to balance the numerous side effects. There are days I can’t stand or walk without pain, making my job as a NICU RN difficult, causing me to miss work. I am seeing neurology for this and in the midst of getting a second opinion/treatment option. 

While I’ve faced these burdens I have tried my hardest to maintain a good spirit. Making others happy is truly what keeps me going! I love the work I do helping babies, and I love being a big part of my granddaughter’s life. 

I’m hoping for assistance in paying my monthly car payment and car insurance for the next few months. It would be one less financial burden at this time. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
