Our Story

Nicholas Norton is kind, hardworking, dependable, and truly the most selfless person I have ever known. It is an honor to call him my husband, my best friend, and the father of our child. In December of 2025, we welcomed our first baby into the world, and our sweet boy was only two months old when Nicholas’s cancer journey began.

In February 2026, Nicholas went to urgent care for a lingering cough he had been trying to ignore. A chest X-ray raised concerns, and although doctors first suspected mucus, they wanted to be certain before moving on. A follow-up CT scan revealed a large tumor encasing his trachea and compressing several critical veins around his heart. By the time it was discovered, the tumor had grown larger than a softball. After a month filled with countless tests, scans, biopsies, and consultations with specialists—including Mayo Clinic—Nicholas was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma, an aggressive and fast-growing form of cancer.

Although his doctors remain hopeful about his recovery, we know our family has a long and difficult road ahead. Nicholas’s current treatment plan includes at least 6 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and 5 rounds of radiation.

Every 3 weeks, he will be admitted to the hospital for an intensive round of chemo. With each weeklong stay, he will be receiving one chemo treatment for 4 consecutive days. During his stay, he is unable to see our son due to the risks of exposure, making an already difficult process even more challenging for our family.

His first round of chemotherapy kept him hospitalized for over a week and brought unexpected complications, including a blood clot stretching from his neck to his elbow. As many know, cancer treatment is rarely predictable, and his doctors expect there may be more unforeseen challenges along the way. Since that initial inpatient stay, he has also completed one outpatient round of chemo and is preparing to begin radiation next week. While there is a treatment plan in place, it often shifts week by week, making this journey even more uncertain for our family.

It is very important to Nicholas that he continue to work as much as possible throughout this journey. Unfortunately, his ability to work will likely decrease with each round of treatment. Since bringing home our son, Nicholas has become the sole income provider for our family, which has placed us in a difficult financial position. We are asking for financial support to allow Nicholas the ability to focus his time and energy where it matters most — kicking cancer’s ass.

Thank you for considering donating to our family - you mean the world to us!

The Nortons
