The Mallam Family
Our Story
After the loss of our home on Halloween, Brett was then diagnosed with stage 4 Squamous cell cancer which required a14hr surgery to remove his jaw, all lower teeth and lower lip (flap) then rebuilding a new jaw using a bone from his right leg. Which has left his handsome face disfigured and not enough space for dental implants. He completed 33 rounds of the highest form of radiation to his face that’s available along with chemo. Brett has been living with a feeding tube since the surgery for daily nutrition, and take numerous medications which is causing weight loss and constant nausea. He’s been left with no sense of feeling or taste, with difficulty speaking and can no longer sing, has very low energy, and no teeth. He no longer feels like himself. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Family Updates
Brett recently had a PET scan to check if there’s any more cancer cells. From what I had read, it sounds like they had gotten them all ! Great news!!
The next survey hasn’t been scheduled as of yet to make some room in his mouth for dental implants, but on the upside of things, he’s FINALLY gotten his appetite back and has been eating some real food since Sunday afternoon! Exciting. One step closer to a bit of familiarity !
