The Knotz Family
Our Story
In February, Rafael was given a provisional diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD)—a rare, rapidly progressing neurological illness with no cure. What started as subtle symptoms has quickly taken his ability to work, and the reality is devastating: this disease moves fast, and time is limited.
For over 22 years, Rafael and Michelle have built a life grounded in love, resilience, and commitment. After meeting Michelle, Rafael got sober and went on to build his own construction business from the ground up, working tirelessly to provide for their life together.
Michelle has shown incredible strength of her own. After a serious accident left her with debilitating vertigo, she has been unable to work a traditional job—but she continues to create and sell vintage art, doing everything she can to contribute.
Now, everything has changed.
Rafael can no longer work, and as a self-employed business owner, he does not have traditional benefits or life insurance. Michelle is stepping into the role of full-time caregiver while facing growing financial uncertainty.
We are asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time.
