The Cluff Family
Our Story
Hero. The title is overused to be sure, but in the case of my sister Sandra, it applies. I know. I've seen her in action. Sandra is an accomplished ICU Nurse at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. For over two and a half years she cared for hundreds of ICU Covid patients, all in dire need and some at the very hour of their deaths. She did this not for money, but because it was her calling and her commitment to others.
Sandra has a rare form of liver cancer. This grim disease is called Cholangiocarcinoma and in lay terms, it's called bile duct cancer. It required the surgical removal of almost half her liver. Sandra faces a series of obstacles. She must sit through months of tedious and painful chemotherapy. She cannot work. She can no longer do the range of usual tasks for her three high school children, each of whom was adopted and each of whom has special needs. She faces finances in disarray. Individual and family insurance deductibles are $7,500. Co-pays and out-of-pocket medical expenses run into the thousands. She's lost over $80,000 in wages since her surgery. Despite all that she's going through, she still finds time to put other people first. She always has.
Money won't fix her health problems, of course, but it can help ease the disruption, difficulty and yes, despair of her current life. She has a strong faith in God and tries to remain positive in the face of a fearful and uncertain future. While currently challenging, her future can also include an outpouring of love, support and a heartfelt monetary contribution to her needs. Will you help?
