My name is Jaeden, and I am writing on behalf of my son, Kaleo. He was born prematurely at just 33 weeks on August 24 after a difficult pregnancy and two weeks of hospitalization. Since birth, he has remained in the NICU, relying on a feeding tube for nourishment as he was unable and learning to take oral feeds and spends much of his time without wakefulness or awareness. Doctors expect he will remain in the hospital until around his original due date, October 9.

At home, I am also a mom to two young children, ages 3 and 4, who are eagerly waiting to meet their baby brother. Unfortunately, during this time I have lost my part-time income from home, and we are now surviving on Kaleo’s dad’s single income. His job offered no paternity leave, only 7 days of PTO, which were quickly used up between my hospitalization and Kaleo’s NICU stay. As a result, we have exhausted our savings, maxed out credit cards, and are falling behind on bills while trying to stay present for our children and prepare for Kaleo’s homecoming.

This journey has been incredibly emotional and overwhelming, but we remain hopeful. Any support we receive helps us focus on what matters most—being there for Kaleo and giving him the care and love he needs to grow stronger each day.
