Autumn was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on May 5, 2019. She is four years old and the youngest of four children. Her siblings are Hannah (12), Jacob (9) and Faith (7). Before her diagnosis, her father and I both worked full-time; however, I have just begun a one-year leave of absence from my teaching position in order to be able to stay at the hospital with Autumn during her chemotherapy treatments. We are reaching out to Spare Key and their donors for assistance with our loss of income in order to still be able to make our mortgage payments. We are grateful for any help that we may receive. Thank you for this opportunity.

    Autumn’s Journey

The attached picture of Autumn and her siblings was taken on her last morning at home before she started her second round of chemotherapy at Children’s Minnesota. We’ve found out that she will need a total of five rounds of chemotherapy for treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), which she was diagnosed with on May 5th, 2019.

Her first round lasted 5 weeks, and she has been at Children’s now for her second round since June 26th. We are unsure of how long each round will last since it completely depends on how her body responds to treatment. We are praying that she will be finished with treatments by Christmas. Oh, what an amazing Christmas present that would be!

My husband continues to work full-time to support our family. Thankfully, I was able to take a 1-year leave of absence from my teaching position in order to stay at the hospital with Autumn. Our oldest daughter has been helping take care of her older siblings, and we have had family and friends help provide child care and meals as well.

Our biggest need is assistance in covering our mortgage payment, since that is what the majority of my teacher’s salary went toward. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity through Spare Key to receive financial assistance.

Thank you for your care, support & prayers. We know that with God all things are possible, and we pray that He grants Autumn complete healing & gives our family the strength and resources needed to get through this time together.
