On January 6th our world got flipped upside down, while Jesse was deployed overseas Our 10 year old Calla was diagnosed with Leukemia. Our kind, sweet and fun loving girl was admitted to Masonic   Children's Hospital in Minneapolis to begin treatment. On January 10th Calla had her bone marrow biopsy which came back at 97% cancer and on the 11th she had her first round of Chemo. It’s going to be a long road but we are thankful Jesse was able to take leave from his deployment to be here with us.
On January 22 only 3 days after being released from the hospital Calla was rushed to the ER and admitted to the PICU for a septic infection. She was fighting for her life and nearly didn’t make it. We spent about 2 weeks in the PICU and another week or more in the hospital. 3 hours after going home Calla spiked a fever. We returned to the ER where it was discovered she suffered a bowel perforation. She was admitted to the PICU again and had surgery to fix the perforation and ended up requiring a temporary ostomy. We spent another few weeks in the hospital totaling around 3 months of admissions for the beginning of treatment.
Calla is currently admitted to the hospital waiting on counts to come up. It’s a long waiting game and we don’t know exactly how long it will last. The costs of everything goes up substantially while she’s in the hospital, food, gas childcare ect.
thank you for considering helping our family 🧡
