Our beautiful girl River was born at 36 weeks gestation on September 29th. While I was pregnant with her the ultrasound showed several concerning issues. When she was born she was taken to the NICU and evaluated. Testing revealed she was positive for a CMV infection, which can cause a multitude of several defects in the body. The doctors want River to be on a medication for the next 6 months of her life. This medication is very expensive every month and will be a lot of out of pocket expense due to insurance not covering a lot of the cost. River will also need ongoing testing and therapy for some time. Due to River coming early, my husband has been taking off extra days to spend in the NICU and with his job he isn't allowed PTO. So the days he takes off go unpaid. With my extra testing during the pregnancy and biweekly appointments, I have exhausted my PTO. On top of the very expensive medication that she needs we are also dealing with my medical bills due to having weekly ultrasounds and other testing during my pregnancy. We appreciate any and all help we receive financially during this time.
