I am a 52 year old man, married to a wonderful woman who has several auto-immune diseases and is on Social Security Disability .I have one daughter and two grandchildren who live several states away and I only get to see once or twice a year. I am a furniture upholsterer and do not have any short or long term disabilty insurance. I have been having severe urinary symptoms since May of 2022 and was diagnosed with High Grade Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer and have not been able to work since February. I have been through three rounds of chemotherapy and ended up in the hospital two times due to high fevers caused by the chemo. I will be having a 13 hour surgery on July 31st to have my bladder removed and will need to recover for 8 weeks before I can return to work. My wife's Social Security benefit doesn't come close to covering our monthly bills and they little bit we had in savings is nearly exhausted. I have tried to come up with ways to pay our bills while being unable to work and have not found any help thus far. I am hoping that I will be awarded a grant through Help Me Bounce to relieve some stress from me so I can focus on regaining my health.
