The Core-Hardy Family

Hi, this is Kai’Yari. She is 5 months old. She was born with a heart condition called HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) which means she is a single ventricle baby. The left ventricle was underdeveloped when she was born. Kai’Yari has already went through 2 out of the 3 open heart surgeries that she has to have. Kai’Yari is still in the hospital recovering from her 2nd open heart surgery called the Glenn. She recently caught a blood infection which is making her hospital time as an inpatient even longer. We have had to relocate so she can get the best care. As a result we lost our apartment because we haven’t been able to work. We have been by her side the whole time. Kai’Yari also has a big toddler brother. Life has been hard on us all dealing with everything going on with Kai’Yari and with our financial struggles (car, bills, phone, etc). We are looking for a new apartment so that way when Kai’Yari gets discharged she will have a roof over her head. On top of that we have extremely high medical bills. Out of the 4 months she has been alive 3 of the months have been spent in the hospital between CICU and ACCU (the step down unit).
