Our Story
On August 8th, 2025, 4 month old Leo suffered a severe brain injury. EMS had to resuscitate Leo, and upon arrival to regions emergency department, he was taken back for emergency brain surgery for a brain bleed and severe pressure in his brain.
The Doctors originally told me that they weren't certain if he would survive this brain surgery because of how damaged his brain was. After his surgery, Leo suffered a stroke on his right side of his brain and began having frequent seizures. His MRI and CT scans show severe brain injuries on both hemispheres, and serious oxygen loss of the entire brain. They do not know how this will affect him developmentally, but they do know this will be a very long road of recovery.
More scans revealed fractured ribs, fractured femurs and tibia in both legs, fractured skull and fractured ligament in spine/neck. Leo has been in the picu and just recently moved Gillette children's. Leo is also suffering blindness caused by head injury and retinal hemorrhaging. He needs to undergo urgent retinal surgery to try and restore some of his vision. Leo will have to wear a "papoose" brace for up to 6 months due to the ligamentous injury in his spine/neck.
Due to his severe injuries and our time in the hospital, our income has drastically decreased. Leo is expected to be discharged within a few weeks and will need outpatient Physical therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Neurology appointments, prosthetics for his braces.
Family Updates

Great news! Leo's retinal surgeon decided not to go forward with the surgery and wait a little longer to see if the hemorrhages clear up on their own! His left eye is in the healing stage now but his right eye is worse but they'd like to monitor for a little while longer before going ahead with the surgery
