    Premature Birth

My name is Lilly Dillard. I was born December 5,2022 at only 27 weeks because my mom got sick with preclamsia and the doctors said that is was the best decision for both her and I if I came into this world a little early.

I have 2 older brothers, Robert who is 6 and Cullen who is 2, and an older sister, Savannah who is 5. I can't wait to meet them. From what I've heard they're a lively fun bunch and are sure to give me lots of great childhood memories.

Right now I am in the NICU in Bismark, ND. My mom and big brother Cullen are staying here with me but my dad, Robert and Savannah are back in Nebraska. They were in the middle of moving for a job the week that I came into this world. Even though my arrival was unexpected, they still had to continue trying to move. I can't wait to be home with them all. Bismark is such a long ways away from Nebraska. I'm hoping that eventually I can be moved to a NICU unit closer to them, but that's expensive so I've heard. Until then I'll hang out here with my mom and brother and focus on getting stronger and healthier each day. so that when I'm ready to leave I can hit the ground running!

    Progress update

The procedure to close her PDA went beautifully, no complications! She's already making great improvements! Today she had the intubation tube removed, so she is breathing completely on her own now. She does have a CPAP on just to help keep pressure in her lungs until she's a little older and they're more developed.

We are a week old today! So far we have decreased the amount of ventilation needed and increased the amount and frequency of feeding! Doing great and showing what Dillard strong means!
