The Garland Family
Our Story
Elijah Daniel Garland came into the world at 28 weeks! He is small but beautiful in every way. He is receiving care in the Maple Grove Hospital NICU where we will be for a few months. His early birth caught us by surprise and altered our plans for saving and maternity leave. This has left us in a rough spot but we are blessed to have our little boy even in the hard times!
Family Updates
Elijah got to celebrate his first birthday with family and friends this weekend! What a blessing to see him growing so well and coming so far from his time in the NICU. He is still a little behind from his birth age, but his adjusted age is getting closer and closer! He has some more catch up to do as far as growing and meeting milestones, but he is a strong boy and we just know he will be where he needs to be soon! We would still love any support we can get to pay down the incredible amount of bills we have accrued from his birth till now. Blessings to all of you who see this!
Next week Elijah has his hernia repair surgery! Although this is considered a pretty minimal surgery, it is a surgery. We are all feeling a but anxious about it, but we know this is the right time to get it done so that he can continue to grow and be even more healthy! Please keep us in your prayers, especially Elijah.
We have been home just under 2 weeks and life has been great! Elijah is growing, eating and sleeping well. Unfortunately we noticed a lump around his groin region and he was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia. He gets irritated every so often, but for the most part he continues to be a trooper and is incredibly brave! His appointment with a children’s urologist will be coming up on June 30th so that we can figure out next steps to resolve this ailment. Elijah sure has had an adventurous start to his life! We hope this is the last unexpected surprise.
