Brain Tumor
My son Adam is an 11-year-old child who was happy, energetic, and independent until we found out that he has a brain tumor. After his last operation to remove the tumor on 9/1/21, Adam lost the ability to speak, diagnosed with Ataxia in his right hand, and became weak on the right side. He has Posterior Fossa Syndrome, which required a lot of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. We put Adam in swimming lessons, horse riding lessons, acupuncture, manual physical therapy, functional neurology, eye therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and musical exercises. Most of those treatments were paid out of pocket. The hardest thing is that my husband would leave work to stay with the other kids while I take Adam to the therapy.
Adam is sad and has lost his self-confidence. We are currently home-schooling all 4 children, as we hope this will help him get his self-confidence back. Then when he feels ready, he will go back to school again. Adam still needs a lot of work to regain his balance and ability to use his right side, but when he’s capable to regain his abilities, his normal voice and speech should restore his self-confidence again.
Adam’s dad spends more time at home now to help him and the other 3 kids, so our income is limited, and our situation is very difficult. We are psychologically, emotionally, and financially drained. We hope you can help us. Thank you.
