My name is Jaime, and I am a single working parent seeking help to cover medical costs for my son, Jaden. He was diagnosed with ADD in December, and his medication has made a tremendous difference in his focus, confidence, and school grades. Unfortunately, rising healthcare costs, high deductibles, and ongoing coinsurance—combined with minimal wage increases along with higher healthcare costs my take home is actually less this year. 

Combined with rising cost of everyday necessities like housing, food, gas, and utilities, we simply cannot keep up. We are still paying off last year’s deductible, now in collections, while starting a new year already owing more, leaving us forced to choose between his Appointments and medication or basic needs. To prioritize his care, I have postponed all of my own medical appointments and medications, despite living with chronic illnesses, and I can only hope nothing serious occurs while my conditions go untreated.
