Deja’s life changed dramatically in 2022 when she was diagnosed with Stage1 Grade2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It was a rough few months after losing her Father in June but nothing could have shocked her more than hearing those words only a month after celebrating her 45th birthday.

Things haven’t been easy since but Deja is powering through, with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She has undergone 6 rounds of chemo with 2 left to go. She has her surgery set for her bi-lateral mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery. The challenging stuff has been the side effects, the plans put on hold, and being unable to work during this difficult time.

That said, it hasn’t all been bad. She has a strong support system, has reconnected with important people (including friends going through a similar experience), and has really started to learn who she is and what she wants in this life. To her, it’s about helping people feel good about themselves, no matter their circumstances, and that’s what this fundraiser is ultimately about. Helping her on that journey back to health and purpose while she gains the strength to work to pay for her mounting expenses. It’s also for those who have asked how they can support.

We appreciate anything you are able to provide for Deja whether that is a monetary amount (no matter how small), a kind word of love and support, or putting good vibes out into the universe for her.

    Thank you!

I went to meet with my new plastic surgeon in Tulsa and overall it was a wonderful experience. He made me feel at ease and answered all of my questions. He will be filling the tissue expanders with air instead of saline. He also will be going under the breast so I will not have a lot of scaring and they are going to try and save my nipples which he believes I am a good candidate for… tomorrow is my MRI so we will see if I need radiation after.

Since my surgery was moved up we had to change plastic surgeons. I will meet with him tomorrow in Tulsa to discuss reconstruction.
