The Kennedy-Booker Family
Our Story
We are starting this page to share an unexpected and difficult journey our family is now facing. My daughter Jasmine is a vibrant, strong 25-year-old who has always brought light and joy to those around her. Recently, what was believed to be a benign tumor turned into something far more serious.
After surgery, doctors discovered a nearly 5-pound tumor on her ovary. During the procedure, Jasmine lost an ovary, a fallopian tube, and her appendix … which was rupturing. Following pathology results, we received the heartbreaking news that the tumor was cancerous. Jasmine has now been diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer … specifically a rare and aggressive mixed malignant germ cell tumor. In April, she will begin chemotherapy.
Before starting treatment, Jasmine is making a brave and hopeful decision to pursue fertility preservation through egg fertilization, holding on to her dream of becoming a mother one day. She is also exploring cold capping during chemotherapy in hopes of preserving her hair, something that represents not just appearance, but identity and strength during this fight. As Jasmine prepares for treatment, we are also navigating the reality of how this will impact her daily life. Chemotherapy will be 5 days straight in patient and two out patient. Making it difficult to keep up with essential expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, and other basic needs.
Your love, encouragement, and support mean more than words can express during this time. Thank you for being part of Jasmine’s support system.
