    Injury/Illness
    Heart Defect

Sweet Miss Jayden has had a rocky start coming into the world. To begin , while in the womb she was diagnosed with  aortic stenosis. Becky and Shawn were sent to Mayo Clinic and Becky was induced on July 9th, after seeing Jayden's heart rate declining, Jayden came 3 weeks early on July 10th at 12:42 am via c-section weighing only 4.8lbs and 16.3 inches. While the first few days were uncomplicated,  Jayden had a surgery that required a catheter be put into her neck and a balloon inflated to help stretch her left ventricle hoping it would help the blood flow properly. This was a successful procedure and Jayden quickly healed and was able to be discharged from NICU and sent home on July 18th. She enjoyed 10 days at home with her Mom & Dad, however on Saturday July 28th about 8pm, Becky noticed Jayden was not breathing properly and her feedings were not normal, so they hurried to the Sanford ER. Mayo Clinic was called and they immediately sent a plane to transport  Becky & Jayden back to Dr. Said and his fabulous  team. By the time Shawn arrived in Rochester they were told to "except the worse,  she is a very sick little girl", Jayden was in surgery by 10am & it was quickly learned Jayden needed open heart surgery as she was nearly in complete cardiac arrest. Dr. Said and his team tried to get her left ventricle to work, but were only able to get it to 20% capacity.  She has been placed on ECMO machine (life support for both heart and lungs). At this point she is trying very hard to get strong enough to allow the machine to be dialed down but her little heart is struggling and tomorrow, 08/10/2018, Dr. Said is opening her chest & will attempt to give Jayden a temporary left ventricle. There is a chance Jayden might require a pacemaker as a result of this surgery. Dr. Said is trying to by-time so that when Jayden is big enough, most likely around a year, she will have another open heart surgery that entails a replacement of that poorly functioning ventricle to be replaced, a Ross procedure. Jayden is working hard to grow and heal and she needs her Mommy & Daddy there to help her. At this time, we are asking you to help Shawn, Becky and Jayden by donating.

    Update

Good morning!!! So Ms.Jayden has been doing pretty good since Friday. So before Friday Jayden had that bacteria come back. It's a pretty bad bacteria that came around when she had the emergency in her room on the 18th. So she was taking antibiotics and was working we thought. Then on the 3rd it popped back up. They tried a few different antibiotics to stop it. Didn't really work. So on the evening of the 8th they changed her ECMO machine out. They think and hope the bacteria was sticking to the lines in it. So as of the morning of the 9th her labs have came back negative every morning. Woohoo!!! That bacteria set her back a week or so. that being said since Saturday morning she has been looking and doing pretty good. There is always a few ups and downs throughout the day. But every day she rests is a good day. No real plans to bring her to the OR to test anything yet. Mom and dad are holding up pretty good too. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

    Update

On 9/4/18 Jayden went down to the OR and had a echo, chest clean out and a ecmo turn down. Heart function looked really good. Lungs need more work getting cleaned out. Chest is still open but clean and dry for lung therapy. So she is still on ecmo. Dr. Said said we will keep working on lungs and train heart and try again next week.

Today will be a big day for Jayden..it is her last chance to show us if she is able to come off of ecmo or not..if she isn't able too..she will be on full transplant to wait for a new heart. Her heart is definitely doing what we need it too but there is a small leak in the valve they replaced..her lungs as well look the best they have in a long time. We know whatever God plans is the best plan and we are so hopeful she can come off the machine. Please take a moment and pray for our little peanut and to continue to give mom and dad faith to keep believing.
