The McGill Family
Our Story
In 2023, my moms world was forever changed. When she started having chest pains, she went to the doctor and while looking at her CT scans, they saw something else. After ordering a full CT of her abdomen, they discovered a massive tumor on her spleen.
Everything went downhill from there. She gained 100 pounds in three months, developed edema, diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and the final blow was low oxygen saturation. Then she got sepsis while attempting to drain her spleen tumor, which led to the complete removal of her entire spleen.
Her health has rapidly deteriorated. She went from always on the go and active, to barely being able to walk up the stairs to her room. She was just recently hospitalized again for the severe lymphedema. Her legs and feet were so swollen, they began to weep. She's in pain a lot and is on oxygen. She can no longer walk on her own. A manual wheelchair is the only thing we have except, she's not able to wheel herself or push herself because it physically hurts her and she becomes overwhelmed. Her oxygen gets lower and she has to take several breaks.
My mom isn't handling this mobility issue very well at all. She's sad because she can't even get out of the house unless for a doctors appointment. She's lost her favorite thing in the world, her independence. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
