    Name
    Jeff Morton
    Injury/Illness
    Cancer

Jeff suffered through a long battle last year with a sore throat and many doctors visits and various medicine trials trying to relieve the sore throat. Finally in September of 2022 with some more in depth testing he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Since he was diagnosed he has gone through a load of tests, a stent placement for a blockage to his heart that was found while preparing him for surgery. Finally, he was able to undergo surgery to have his esophagus removed in December. After surgery he was officially given a stage IIB diagnosis because the cancer had spread to lymph nodes. He is currently going through 12 rounds of chemo. The treatments are 3 days long, every 14 days. As time drags on surviving financially has proven to be more difficult with every passing month. Prior to diagnosis Jeff was the main "bread winner" in our family. His wife has managed to pick up a couple of part time jobs in between being the caregiver, taxi driver, and personal advocate with all the medical decisions to be made over the last few months. It's a struggle and very tiresome.
