Our Story
Hi, my name is Brittany, and I would like to introduce my funny and sweet 6-year-old, Riley.
When I tell you she is one in a million, I really mean that. There are only 1 in 45 cases globally ever recorded with a similar condition. Riley was born with a unique congenital chromosome disorder known as a Partial chromosome 11 Trisomy. When she was born, I received the initial diagnosis during her stay in NICU, even though we had seen countless specialists, there is no certainty for what her future will look like. Ms. Riley is a spunky fighter and she has overcome so much in her short life. She has to have surgery to correct her clubfoot, followed by chronic UTIs and constipation linked to low tonal issues. She has cataracts in both eyes and she is continually monitored for progression. As of last August, she was placed on the Spectrum, receiving a developmental placement of 1 year and a social placement of 7 months.
Riley is mostly non-verbal, but her favorite words include 'no, momma', and 'Marshall' from paw patrol. Riley is currently in kindergarten and continuing to grow a little more each day as she is a very independent young girl! All I can say is I am so proud of how far she has come and I can't wait to see what she will do next!
Riley's family circle is small, consisting of her Grandmother, Grandfather, her father, and myself. Sadly, her grandmother passed away in August of 2022, which has caused a lot of hardships for us. Shortly thereafter Riley's Grandfather started to get very sick as well and has been in and out of the hospital. Currently, Riley and I are staying in the only home she has ever known, but we are no longer able to stay here. Since my parents have progressively gotten sicker, I have stopped working, which doesn't help the bills from piling up. But, the current home we live in needs a lot of work and not safe for tiny, curious humans to be exploring. So I have decided to find a new place to live with Riley, her furry best friends, and her Father, to live as a family once again.
Anything you are able to help with will allow Riley own room for the first time, in a new home - a room specially designed for a special little girl. Thank you
