Our Story
My birth plan was to try a non-medicated vaginal birth, but in less than 2 hours after my arrival into the hospital, I went into a non-medicated emergency C-section. By the time my husband was gowned up, my 'support people' were not allowed into the room. Normally, you would get your support people and proper meds or pain blocks of your choosing.
We ended up in the NICU because Freya was not breathing at delivery and 30 minutes of CPR, as well as the placenta detaching on its own at 3-4 cm dilated. Thank God the Pediatric Nurse didn't give up on CPR.
My husband was outside the door of the OR, not knowing if the baby and I were going to make it, as they kept announcing 'code blue' over the intercom. I was given the memory block med for most of the delivery trauma, but not enough. I am recovering ok. I'm finally communicating with my original OB, and will be reevaluated for the concerns I have with healing.
