My name is Valerie Smith and I’m opening this fundraising for me because we can't afford the copays for my upcoming surgery for my breast cancer.

I am a Christian and I am humbly asking for your financial help & your earnest prayers during this challenging time.

I was recently was diagnosed on January 5, 2024, with papillary carcinoma breast cancer. At the very beginning I didn't want to ask for help believing I could do it by myself, but now that I’ve contacted the insurance company, I realize that the copays are more expensive than I could have ever imagined. Wayne and I have already incurred a lot of out-of-pocket expenses relating to my diagnosis. Please help me to raise money for my MRI, surgery, and radiation. Any amount donated is a greatly appreciated.

Copay breakdown:

For the MRI it is $140.00 Copayment for other Medicare-covered radiological diagnostic services, not including x-rays performed in a physician's office or at a free-standing facility (such as a radiology center or medical clinic).

$280.00 Copayment for Medicare-covered surgery or other services provided to me at an ambulatory surgical center, including but not limited to hospital or other facility charges and physician or surgical charges for In-Network.

For reconstruction surgery, it is a $230.00 Copayment for Medicare-covered surgery provided to me at an outpatient hospital, including but not limited to hospital or other facility charges and physician or surgical charges.
