Hello, I'm Christy Ward. I am the mother of Mirabella. She prefers to go by "Bella" and is a bright, beautiful ray of sunshine. 

Bella was diagnosed on 05/14/2025 with a very rare and aggressive type of pediatric brain cancer called a Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) that metastasized to her spine. Children with this cancer have a devastating median survival rate of just 9-18 months after diagnosis. Our lives were flipped upside down.

We cannot- and do not - want to imagine life without our Bella. Shortly after hearing this life-changing news, we started treatment to fight against the odds and give Bella a chance to enjoy her life. Bella loves god, her Faith is so strong, going to church on Sundays and Wednesday’s, playing basketball with her friends and being with her family and playing with her brother. We want to see her continue to do the things that she loves, for as long as she can. As of November 2025, we have completed all current treatment options; radiation on brain and spine, placement of a shunt and port. Debulking of the tumor which was unsuccessful.

Unfortunately, none of these treatments have stopped the spread of the tumor. We are hoping to extend Bella's quality and quantity of life through any and all options; which has lead us to find the DMG clinical trial at Children's Hospital in Minnesota. It is one of the few remaining options for Bella at this stage. This trial is the most important thing for Bella to look forward to right now, and it brings our family hope. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover an out-of-state trial, and we need to raise money to show the hospital that we can afford the treatment out-of-pocket. 

We need to raise at least $50,000 by December 1st in order to continue with the trial. However, the treatment is expected to cost approximately $90,000 in total. The donations that you provide will be sent directly to the hospital to cover Bella's medical bills.
