The Wilson Family
Our Story
Our little miss Asemaa Rayne came a couple months early at 29 weeks and 6 days gestational age. I came to Children's Hospital in St. Paul that day for my typical high risk pregnancy check up that had been twice a week, when the nurse noticed that our baby girl's heart rate kept dipping much lower than it should've been. Within four hours of that first heart rate dip, I was prepped on the OR table for an emergency C-section. At 1:54 pm on April 10th, our little princess was born.
It hasn't been an easy journey but our brave girl has been an incredible fighter. Born at 2 lbs 4 oz and 14 inches long she came into the world swinging and sassy as could be. Our sweet girl was born with a right aortic arch in her heart instead of the typical left sided arch so she has some troubles keeping her feedings down but she's trying her best. At two weeks old (on 04/24/2026), she has gained a quarter pound and has grown a centimeter longer. Asemaa has to have some assistance with breathing so she's had to wear a CPAP and will continue to have that support until her little lungs are strong enough to breathe on her own. We're so proud of our precious little peanut and can't wait to bring her home in a couple months. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Family Updates
On May 1st, 2026 our little princess reached three weeks outside my tummy as well as three pounds! We're so proud of her for growing and keeping her feedings down the best she can. Asemaa still has some trouble with not being able to keep her feedings down but not nearly as much as when she was first born and it's really showing in her stellar growth. Our sweet girl continues to amaze us everyday with what she's capable of. At three weeks she also showed us that she can lift her head two inches off her mattress and has even started to try to roll over. She continues to redefine the expectations of a premie baby in the NICU and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us.
