    Injury/Illness
    Lymphoma

Syria is 15 years old. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma on May 25, 2023. Hodgkins' lymphoma is a rare type of blood cancer that affects the body's lymphatic and immune systems before spreading through the body.

The road to diagnosis has been challenging; Syria started urgent therapy after pericardial effusion was noted on the echocardiogram. She was transferred to get the effusion drained. Syria has undergone countless procedures, surgeries, scans, and doctor's appointments over the last month. Syria's remarkable spirit and resilience have shown throughout this grueling process.

However, Syria fight has only just begun. In June, she began a rigorous chemotherapy regimen, which is expected to continue. The journey ahead will be challenging for us as a parent and Syria as we navigate the battle against cancer's physical, mental, and financial impacts. Insurance will help, but we quickly learn that many medical expenses and medicine are not covered. She's ready to fight but needs our help: every donation, thought, or prayer will help ease the burden of this journey. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

For those of you who don't know Syria, we'd like to share a little bit about what it's like to know and love her:

Syria is a gentle and loving soul. She finishes her sophomore year with a high honor student. Before being diagnosed, she loved fashion, playing video games, and hanging out with friends and family. Syria can be shy, but when she is comfortable, her humor will show. She's humble, honest, and never shies away from speaking her mind. Syria loves anything that screams FUN. Most importantly, she's ready to fight this cancer.
