Story
On June 20th, 2022, I had a stroke. A month after my 30th birthday I woke up, took a shower and suddenly felt numbness and tingling down the right side of my body from head to toes.
I spent a few days in the hospital for monitoring and was sent home after no major concerns were found.
It has now been 3 months since that day and over these months I have had 4 MRIs, multiple CTs, liters of blood drawn and tested, wore a heart monitor for 30 days, completed an EKG stress test, a visual field test and recently started occupational therapy. I'm thankful that thus far, all tests have shown I am healthy. The only lingering effect has been my loss of peripheral vision.
I am grateful to have a holistic primary doctor who refuses to accept 'I don't know' as an answer to why I had this stroke at such a young age. She has advocated for me and continued to dive deeper into possible causes and ways to become my healthiest self.
With the ER visit, ambulance ride, hospital stay and follow up testing, I have undoubtedly accrued a medical debt. I applied for the hospital networks financial aid and was granted a 70% discount on services but my balance is still in the thousands.
Every dollar you feel inclined to donate can help me bounce after my stroke and remove the burden of medical debt.
